Quick answer
Follow the active Outpost objective through Biggie's opening repair and building jobs, complete the first Deep Layers loop, then treat later unlocks such as the second floor as task-item runs. This hub lists only progression that current sources reproduce and leaves unverified quest names without guessed steps.
What this quest guide can verify
The official version 1.0 announcement confirms a complete quest flow and new Outpost NPCs. It does not publish a complete mission list, exact prerequisites, or every turn-in. A current launch walkthrough does reproduce the opening sequence around Biggie, early Outpost repairs, learning Spark actions, building, and the first Deep Layers objective.
This page uses that evidence as a route, not permission to fill every gap. A quest name only becomes a walkthrough here when a current source shows enough of the sequence to identify what starts it, what the objective asks, and what progression follows.
Finish Biggie’s opening Outpost jobs
The opening route teaches persistent Outpost actions before asking you to survive a full descent. The current walkthrough records the Fixer Upper sequence around Biggie, including clearing dirt, repairing damaged walls, learning an early Spark interaction, breaking an object, and placing a structure.
Follow the current objective one action at a time. Do not clean or rebuild the entire Outpost before checking what the quest actually counts. A repair, a placed object, and general decoration may look similar but advance different systems.
Use this opening checklist:
- Speak to the NPC identified by the active objective.
- Read whether the job asks for cleaning, repair, destruction, or building.
- Complete the smallest clearly requested interaction.
- Recheck the objective before spending more Scrap.
- Return to the named NPC or marker when the task changes.
The beginner guide explains the survival systems introduced by these jobs. The room upgrade guide covers what to repair and furnish after the tutorial stops prescribing every action.
Treat the first descent as a complete loop
The first Deep Layers objective is not just “go downstairs.” It introduces the repeatable structure of the game: identify the run condition, search from the elevator anchor, bring useful value back, and return alive so the Outpost can progress.
Enter with the active task as the primary job. Procedural layouts mean a recorded video cannot provide permanent turns from the elevator. Search one branch, return toward the anchor, and stage anything required for extraction before opening a longer branch.
When the task item or required interaction is complete, lower the appetite for optional loot. A successful quest return unlocks more than one extra room can promise.
Follow verified progression nodes
These live pages cover progression with enough current evidence to publish:
| Progression node | What is verified | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Opening Outpost route | Biggie’s early repair, building, and first-descent sequence | Beginner guide |
| Broken elevator fuse | Search containers for a usable replacement and install it at the elevator | Fuse guide |
| Lost key and second floor | Activate the objective, extract the key, unlock the door, and burn the remaining Rot | Second-floor guide |
| Tink and equipment | Second-floor progression leads to the weapon-machine route | Weapon repair guide |
The table is a verified navigation set, not a claim that these are all version 1.0 quests. The official post-launch roadmap also says a new questline is planned with the October update, so any supposedly permanent “complete quest list” already needs version labels.
Names that still need evidence
Current material does not yet provide a strong, consistent start-to-turn-in route for Forgotten Pages, Little Buddy, Biggie’s Friend or Buddy, Dr. Quill research, and Lost and Found.
That uncertainty matters:
FriendandBuddyappear in conflicting community titles;- a question about a Quill mission proves demand, not the answer;
- a clip title does not establish prerequisites or a reward;
- one search result cannot prove that a named objective exists in the current quest log.
These names remain verification targets rather than live walkthroughs. Do not follow a fabricated fixed-room route just because it uses the right NPC name.
If your quest log says Forgotten Pages
Treat the exact objective text as the source of truth. The current sources used by this guide do not reproduce enough of Forgotten Pages to confirm its prerequisite, fixed location, turn-in, or reward.
Before following a community route, record:
- the NPC or marker named by the active objective;
- the exact action verb in the quest log;
- whether the requested item must return through extraction;
- the last objective that completed on this save;
- the current patch and whether the run is solo or hosted co-op.
If a future source reproduces the same start, objective, and turn-in on the current patch, this section can become a walkthrough. Until then, a short evidence boundary is safer than a confident route built from a search-result title or an older procedural seed.
If a quest will not advance
Check state before repeating a procedural search:
- Read the exact active objective and named NPC.
- Confirm the expected prerequisite is completed on the current save.
- Check whether an item had to return through extraction rather than merely be found.
- Revisit the turn-in or interaction after the objective text changes.
- Confirm every player is on the same current patch.
- Reproduce the issue on the host’s quest state if playing co-op.
Older Demo or playtest saves can carry progression assumptions into the release build. The official launch FAQ recommended a fresh version 1.0 save for the intended quest flow. Preserve any save you care about before testing; do not delete it merely because a guide cannot explain the state.
For a useful bug report, record the patch, active objective text, last completed step, host or solo state, and what the interaction currently shows. That evidence separates a real quest blocker from a missed turn-in or a task item that never made it out of the Deep Layers.
Plan the next quest run
Before descending for progression, answer four questions:
- What exact objective is active?
- Does the run require an item, an interaction, a fight, or only extraction value?
- What independent elevator condition must be solved?
- At what point will the group stop looting and return?
If any answer comes from a guide rather than the live objective, verify it on the current screen. A short, reproducible route is more useful than a long quest list with unsupported steps.
